Summer Reading Challenge: Read To The Beat
Funtastic Kids is getting involved in the Summer Reading Challenge 2026.
This year in particular celebrates the National Year of Reading, a campaign to address the decline in reading amongst children, young people and adults. One key part of that is the Summer Reading Challenge which plays a vital role in keeping children excited about books. The Reading Agency has partnered with Universal Music Group UK for this year’s theme, ‘Read To The Beat’ which celebrates the joy of music and the power it has to move, inspire and connect us, all through reading! It celebrates the universal language of music from drumming and dancing to rap and K-pop. This challenge will inspire children to read new books, take part in fun activities and discover how music and stories make the world come alive.
At Funtastic Kids, we believe in the benefits of reading for pleasure. It not only supports children’s language skills but also expands their imaginations. All our Summer Holiday Camp locations will have a variety of books for children to enjoy. We will encourage kids to read independently and to each other which will count towards the challenge. Our staff also love to lead story time during quieter moments in the day. Also with silent discos and street dance at selected camps this summer, we’re embracing the beat in everyway we can!

When signing up online, children can unlock special online badges and earn a certificate when they reach their challenge goal. Or if they take part in person at their local library, they can collect special stickers and rewards!
We’re also thrilled to announce that local librarians will visit selected Holiday Camps to share their passion for books and promote the challenge!
